HEARTSTOPPER VOLUME 3

The story of Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson continues unabated with the fourth chapter, with great illustrations and editing.

Heartstopper Volume 3, written by Alice Oseman and translated into Turkish by Yabancı Publications, consists of 388 pages, unlike the other two volumes. Fortunately, it was published not long after the first two volumes. Before moving on to the review of the Heartstopper Volume 3 comic, you can read the review for Volume 1 and Volume 2 by clicking HERE.

Charlie didn’t think Nick could ever like him back, but now they’re officially boyfriends. Nick’s even found the courage to come out to his mum.

But coming out isn’t just something that happens once – there’s Nick’s older brother, and a school trip to Paris, not to mention all the other friends and family – and life can be hard, even with someone who loves you by your side. As their feelings get more serious, Charlie and Nick will need each other more than ever before.

Heartstopper Volume 3 is about high school students Charlie and Nick’s experiences on a trip to PAris with their friends. When Nick Nelson revealed to his mother that he is bisexual, he thinks a huge weight has been lifted from his shoulders. As a rugby player Nick, unable to understand what’s going on about his sexual orientaiton from the moment he met Charlie, begins to realize what is true about himself as time goes on. He loves Charlie. When he sees him, butterflies fly in his chest, he feels happier than ever before in his life. The slime on his face grows stronger every moment when he is with him. If this isn’t love, what is? However, despite everything Nick, unlike Charlie is hesitant to bring the subject up to the public. Especially after his older brother comes home from college for the summer…

Despite everything, their life is going on as normal at school until the summer vacation. They spend as much time together as possible, have fun with their friends and kiss where no one sees them whenever they can. These escapades add some excitement to their relationship, but still, as time goes on, both of them now want to have a comfortable relationship. Like his other self-aware friends, holding hands in public, joking and kissing without hesitation.

Everything seems a little easy for Charlie. While his family reacts moderately to their child’s sexual orientation, Nick is wary of his older brother from college. He is afraid od his disturbing reaction. He’s especially worried that he’s bugging Charlie abaout it. At the same time, they are both worried about telling their friends about their relationship. Because first of all, when Charlie revealed his sexual orientation to school, although it was not what he wanted, when his friends learned about it, they did not behave very well. They bullied him, they tried every way to turn his life dungeon. During this time, Charlie has come to the point of accepting all the bad words, starting to hate himself. Everything is fine now, but this time Charlie is thinking of Nick. When they explain everything, he doesn’t want Nick to go through what he went through.

All these worries and problems about the future will end during their trip to Paris and they will have wonderful experieneces about their friendship and most importantly love. A week-long trip to Paris will be a wonderful experience and a haven of memories for young people at Truham High School.

I read Heartstopper Volume 3 with hearts coming out of my eyes. Charlie and Nick’s love affair warmed my hearts as I read their process of getting to know each other more. However, his relations with his other friends, his closeness with his friends who had problems in their lives just as they were, were very good. Although it is an ordinary fiction about the lives of high school studentsi it reflects their concerns, problems and psychology very well. However, in this volume we also become somewhat aware of Charlie’s psychological problems. I think she will talk more about this in the fourth volume. At the same time, a lot of space was given to the side characters. Thanks to this trip, we as readers got to know all the characters and learned a lot about them thanks to Charlie and Nick.

Again, I can’t tell you enough about the wonderful drawings and the book editon published bu Yabancı Publications. I’m really blown away! Well done to the author Alice Oseman. I’m looking forward to the sequel books.
